Whussup!! Sisterhood of the World Blogging Award!!

It took everything I had not to title this post “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Blogging Award” (yep, I’m a smarta**). These awards are fun, and I feel like they give you guys the opportunity to get to know me a little bit better – the redhead on the other side of the screen! ๐Ÿ™‚ Plus, I totally ate Vegan Paella leftovers last night, and didn’t whip up anything stellar and new to share (that’s on the agenda for tonight!). This morning I KILLED IT at boot camp, and even though my shoulders were crying from all the shoveling, my trainer Sarah whipped us right into shape. My fave part was alternating push-ups and sprints at the very end, because once you’ve done that before 6:30 am, you are ready for anything your day throws at you.

Like a flash of lightning! Sprintin’ at 6 am. Now I’m ready for my day. ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyway – this award.

As a part of this award, I am given the following tasks to do:

  • thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their site
  • put the award logo on your blog (I mean, you don’t HAVE to)
  • answer the ten questions sent to you
  • nominate seven blogs
  • make a list of ten questions for your nominees

Okie dokie, here we go! As a part of accepting this award, Jen at Cook It Slim and C at Babbling [C.] Brooks have BOTH sent me a list of questions to respond to. My Q & A portion is below:

Part I: Thank you Jen at Cook It Slim!

In one word, how would you like your readers to describe your blog?

Which is your most favorite among your blog posts? Why?

Dude, I can’t just pick ONE. I have three: First, Snowy Weekend Recap, because I literally blogged about *almost* pooping your pants on a long run, and I found it exceptionally funny (and got THE BEST comments ever – I love you guys!). Two, Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower Wings, because it is a serious crowd pleaser and I can’t wait to whip up a batch for the Super Bowl! And three, my GratiTuesday posts because I love hearing what you guys are grateful for. ๐Ÿ˜€

What/Who inspires most of your blog posts?

YOU! The secret is out – all I *really* care about is making you guys laugh a little bit, while giving you a peek inside my journey as a semi-crazy, fitness-obsessed veg that looooves to cook. Sometimes stuff is absolutely smashing, sometimes it really sucks, but I feel like if we can all have a good chuckle at the imperfect human experience, we’re doing okay.

What do you aspire to accomplish this year?

I’d love to participate in this trifecta of Hyannis Half Marathons (where you get a jacket when you do all three!).

What do you aspire to learn this year?

How to bake bread from scratch like a mofo. (Oh, and do a pull-up/high box jump.)

What is your most favorite book? Why?

The Missing Piece by Shel Silverstein. It takes a fairly complex philosophical idea and puts it into a children’s book with pretty rad illustrations. According to the book, the real satisfaction in life lies in rejecting the idea that there is a magical “missing piece” that will make us happy and fulfilled. The real happiness lies in the journey, the quest for the missing piece, and not the attainment of the actual object itself. Pretty deep stuff, eh?

Whatโ€™s the most courageous thing youโ€™ve ever done?

I climbed the tower in the Salisbury Cathedral (the tallest in England, clocking in at 123 m / 404″) with my sister, even though my legs were literally shaking from my fear of heights! My hands are sweating on the keyboard as I type this.

If you can be a superhero, what is your super power?

To fly! I know this seems counter intuitive based on my response to the last question, but I would love to be able to fly. Ah, or if that is not available, then to be able to teleport, so I can see the world with a snap of my fingers.

Who is your female role model?

My sister, because she’s a boss. You can read all about why here.

Part II: Thank you C at Babbling [C.] Brooks!

What inspires you when writing blog posts?

(see above) ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you were just given $100,000, what would you do with it and why?

Travel somewhere crazy awesome (Anywhere in South America, Australia, Thailand) and invest the rest (what can I say, my dad is an Economist).

Whatโ€™s your number one tip that you would give toย new bloggers?

Be yourself. That is what makes blogs the most fun, is the little dash of the author’s personality that flavor each post.

Whatโ€™s your biggest pet peeve?

Repetitive noises. I once precariously stacked a stool on top of a chair to reach a smoke detector with a low battery that was emitting a mind-numbing chirp every minute. It ended with lots of bruises, but before my tower of danger collapsed I ripped the 9 volt battery right out of that sucker.

Where is your favorite spot in the world to be?

With my peeps! This includes, but is not limited to: Southern CT, Buffalo, Denver, San Diego…etc.

Man-friend, Marry, or Move-On: Johnny Depp, Bradley Cooper, andย Benedict Cumberbatch? Go!

Oooh! This is like playing MASH! Man-friend: Johnny Depp, Marry: Bradley Cooper (he is a fine specimen) and Move-On: Benedict Cumberbatch.

What is your favorite thing about yourself?

I’m outgoing and can talk to anyone, I could make friends with a plant. ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you have any words you live by? If you donโ€™t really have a phrase, whatโ€™s your favorite quote?

Go big or go home!

Your plans have been cancelled for Saturday (but donโ€™t worry because it involved helping a friend move all of her solid oak furniture, lucky you!), so that youโ€™re free all day. What do you do instead?

Go for an early morning long run, make an amazing breakfast, go to hot yoga class, get a pedi (yessss someone please rub my feet!), check out the new Lulu inventory, grab dinner and drinks with friends.

Who would you say has influenced you the most in your life?

My parents – the wonderful, liberal, outgoing and outspoken hippies who busted their butts being amazing parents to my sister and I, and brought us up with so much joy and love. I am so grateful for them.

My turn! ๐Ÿ™‚

**I’m not really a rule follower, so I’ll just ask five questions and then you can either a) pick from the ones I’ve been asked in this post to answer ten in total or b) just answer the five. Whatev you wanna do. ๐Ÿ™‚

My questions:

1. Why did you start your blog?

2. What Jeopardy! category would you clear, no problem?

5. What is your favorite place that you’ve traveled and why?

Bonus round: What cheesy song do you have memorized?

  2. Thank you for the nomination! You rock, lady! Climbing that tower sounds CRAY.
    Here are my (Taylor’s) answers:

    1. Why did you start your blog? Jesse and I started the blog to connect with other people who shared similar interests; many of our college friends haven’t quite graduated from getting trashed every weekend, and we really like waking up early. ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. What Jeopardy! category would you clear, no problem? I clear geography and most any history category. Also usually literature

    3. Three things youโ€™d like to accomplish this year (they can be as small or monumental as youโ€™d like). 1. Find my the intersection of my passion and my career 2. Get more comfortable riding a bike 3. Finish my first 50-mile race (!!!!)

    4. Your perfect day: Go. Wake up early, before sunrise. Go for a long (10+ mile) trail run or run a trail race, eat a big brunch with friends afterwards, relax and read, then go out for dinner and beers. Turn in early!

    5. What is your favorite place that youโ€™ve traveled and why? Probably Paris because it’s so magical, but Kauai is a close second.

Bonus round: What cheesy song do you have memorized? Super Bass by Nicki Minaj. LOL
