Woop de wooooop! It’s FRIDAY! Finally! We made it (*cartwheel**cartwheel**cartwheel*). So, I spent last night holiday shopping at Davis Square Midnight Madness, and not cooking because I have massive amounts of leftovers (if you missed it, this week I made Spanish Style Lentils a la L and Roasted Butternut Squash and Kale with Vegan Parmesan Cheeze, both of which were AMAZING). Today I decide to mix it up. What the hell, I’ll join the rest of the blog-o-sphere and do my first ever Friday Faves (something which I did not know existed until I saw it on one of my fave blogs, and totes stole the idea from my blogger-in-crime Jenny at Apples and Kale).
L’s Fave Shiz Ever (at least for today):
S’well Water Bottle
I have a serious problem compulsively buying reusable water bottles (apparently it’s hereditary because my sister falls victim to this same ailment). I have one cabinet that, if you do the dumb thing and open it, you will be rewarded by an avalanche of Nalges (as in Nalgene bottles), Bubba Kegs, Siggs, Lifefactory, Takeya, Nike and Under Armour water bottles (and yes, I do have one or more of each kind – it’s an issue). This one however, is THE BEST WATER BOTTLE IN EXISTENCE. I am obsessed with the glacier (aka when you fill a Nalge 80% with ice cubes and the rest with water and drink the super, super glacial cold water in the summer, or really anytime, especially if you’re hungover) and this one is the Queen of All Glaciers. The mouth is wide enough to put ice in there, and it will keep your beverage cold for 24 hours – FOR REAL THOUGH. It also keeps hot beverages warm for 12 hours. This water bottle is genius. I fill it up with cold water from the fridge, put it by my bed when I go to sleep and chug the whole thing when I first wake up in the morning, and the water is still cold! This thing is seriously the best. I have the purple one (surprise), and I literally bring it everywhere with me. Gotta hydrate!
Lululemon Vinyasa Scarf
I posted a picture of me wearing this scarf in a post from two weeks ago, and everyone wanted to know where I got it! 😀 This scarf RULES. It’s thick and warm, WASHABLE!, and the best part is that it’s convertible. I travel a bunch for work, and I bring it on every single plane ride I go on, because it’s a) cute b) cozy and c) unsnaps into a friggin’ blanket dude! If you YouTube “vinyasa scarf” you will see a ton of videos of people styling their scarves a multitude of ways. It’s just really dope. I got one for my sister and my mom last year for Christmas and they are both obsessed. So it’s not just me. 😉
Um, Smartwool socks are the sh*t. They are merino wool, thick and breathable. I wear the short ones for running (they are super cushioned and soooo nice, the best running socks for cold weather) and the tall ones for outdoor adventures (hiking in all seasons) and everyday wear for life in general (shopping, doing science-y stuff at work, drinking hot toddys). My mom found these years ago and every year, Santa Mom gives them to all of us for Christmas. I consider myself super lucky that my mom is down and knows about these things because they make my life just a little better when my toes are warm and snuggly, whether I’m at my desk at work, or pounding the pavement at Mile 10. Also, it is cold outside right now and my feet are super warm right now (I’m wearing some brown ones!).
Mountain Hardwear Running Gloves
These are the best running gloves I’ve found. They are currently on my mind because I am scheduled for a long run tonight with my buddy J. It is coldddd today and will probably be windy where we are running later on. These gloves work with touch screen phones (so you can easily change your song/check how far you’ve run, etc), have reflectivity, and a fleecy nose wipe patch on the back of the hand (don’t worry, they are washable too). These ones are perfect because they are windproof but still breathable and perfectly warm for those cold runs. My hands are always the first thing to get cold so I wear these bad boys a lot.
(Oh no, it looks like there is only one pair left on sale at the above link. Google: Mountain Hardwear Winter Momentum Running Glove, because there are a lot of good deals out there on these bad boys. They come in Men’s and Women’s!)
The best chocolate there is (seriously). It’s local, stone-ground, organic chocolate. The company is a pioneer in the ethical cacao sourcing (go, Taza!). The flavors are phenomenal, and it is simply amazing; in the words of my friend D “this stuff is DANGEROUS.” Yum. It’s also dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free AND VEGAN (say whaaaat)! Sometimes if I’m feeling naughty, I break a piece or two up off, mash it up, and put it into my chocolate smoothie instead of dark chocolate cocoa powder. SO GOOD!
I hope you guys enjoyed reading about a few of my fave things! Tonight is the night: long run with J, so send warming thoughts my way because I’ll be freezing my butt off running along the Charles!! Happy Friday and lots of love to you guys. Have a great weekend, darlings! ❤
PS: Oh, also, just because I share these links does not mean I get any kickbacks from these sites (I’m just a regular bloggin’ gal, expressing my own opinions). This is NOT a sponsored post, just a little list of things I really like. I thought you might like them too, and for ease of finding them, I shared links (it’s holiday season after all!). Just so you know. I share for my own enjoyment! 😀 (And B, I solemnly swear that B&B will not become a Tide commercial, ever.) 😉
