I Mustache You a Question…

Whoooaaaaaa!! Pump the brakes! Two posts in one day! Only because it’s Thanksgiving week, I thought I’d share this special treat with all of you (ok, and I had so much fun doing it). Thank you Montreal Runner Mom for tagging me to do this post! I’ve never done one of these before and I’m as excited to do this as when AOL was the hub of online existence and we would send chain emails to each other in 6th grade. Lovvvingggg itttt! 😀
Four Names That People Call Me (Other Than My Real Name):

  1. All of my nicknames are variations of my first and last name. The best “automatic nickname generator” that I came up with in college was the first initial and the first four letters of your last name (add an “s” at the end if it sounds better). Thus, if my name was Lola Simmons, my nickname would be L. Simms. Pretty rad, eh? So just imagine all of my nicknames here are variations of that, or the last syllable of my name truncated off. I nicknamed 65% of my sorority sisters following this naming system.
  2. Pup (inside family joke)
  3. Lee (My mom calls me this. If you do, I’ll throw something at you)
  4. Little Miss L (I don’t know if you know this – uh, you probablyyyy don’t – but when I was a kid, I was an aspiring fashion model. When my older cousin came over to baby-sit us, her and my sister would pick out outfits for me, do my make-up and then take photo shoots. I perfected the nonchalant diva face at a young age. I know for a fact that the original “Little Miss L” magazines still exist somewhere in my parents’ house. Unfortunately, my dreams were dashed when I only reached the staggering height of 5’4 feet / 1.32 meters. I became a chemist instead.)

Four Jobs I’ve Had:

  1. Bagel Shop girl (I know bagels from the inside and out. Everything bagels = Le best.)
  2. Camp Counselor (best job EVER)
  3. Bartender (I still have the perfect pour!)
  4. Mad Scientist (currently)

Four Movies I’ve Watched More Than Once (and can quote from memory):

  1. Clueless (Like there exists a more amazing virtual closet than Cher’s. As if.)
  2. Empire Records (My friend M & I have that entire movie memorized)
  3. Gone With the Wind (Scarlett is my spirit animal)
  4. Mean Girls (Is butter a carb?)

Four Ten Books I Recommend / Can’t Live Without (Bc reading is the sh*t):

  1.  Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance – Robert M. Pirsig
  2. Anna Karenina – Leo Tolstoy
  3. The Thornbirds – Colleen McCullough
  4. A Woman of Substance – Barbara Taylor Bradford
  5. Persuasion – Jane Austen
  6. The Unbearable Lightness of Being – Milan Kundera
  7. Leaves of Grass – Walt Whitman (**I love poetry like RiRi loves a jazzy stilleto nail and Britney loves a crop top, so there are SO many more but I cut myself off bc it was getting out of hand)
  8. The Arabian Nights: Tales from a Thousand and One Nights
  9. Love in the time of Cholera – Gabriel Garcia Marquez
  10. The House of Spirits – Isabel Allende

I could list off 100 more. I am pretty intense about reading – I like a challenge, or something that will suck me in and transport me into the story. I will pick up the biggest, thickest mofo I can find and devour it voraciously. I love to read – mysteries, historical fiction, novel, romance, science non-fiction – everything! I’m currently reading River God by Wilbur Smith, because Ancient Egypt is the best and I just want to wear all of those outfits and eat figs all day long like Cleopatra. Oh wait – three more (these are nerd books, a little chemistry-centric): The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean; The Poisoners Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in New York – Deborah Blum; and any of the Flavia de Luce series by Alan Bradley. Obsessions.

Four Five Random Facts (I added this bc why the hell not):

  2. I can’t sleep without a fan on (also, complete darkness and arctic tundra temperatures).
  3. My high school mascot was a Baron.
  4. No matter what time I go to bed, I will wake up at the crack of dawn. But I am mute until I have a cup of coffee. Then, all bets are off.
  5. One last one, I swear! Can’t live without: sunglasses, wind-proof fleece, tie-dye and clogs.

I love all of you, and I want to get to know each and every one of you better! Do this! It’s so fun! So, I invite all of you to do this with me. Plus it’s a short week. Pretty please. 🙂 🙂 🙂

L ❤
